The Journey Home Collection - coming November 30th -

Welcome to the first blog post in the series of three, where I’ll be sharing the heart behind the new "Journey Home" collection coming November 30th. If you missed the introduction, you can catch up on it right here!

Let's begin with the art of nurturing curiosity in your home - a key element for creating a unique story within your space.

My family and I moved to a new home back March. Ever since, I've been piecing together decor and furniture that feels uniquely me, slowly weaving in elements that tell my story. While there's still a way to go, the process has been so fulfilling! I've always had a love for the charm and character that second-hand and antique pieces bring into a space. This spills over into my studio practice, which is all about nurturing curiosity (more on that below) and it's no surprise that the ‘Journey Home’ paintings emit a similar sense of comfort and wonder.

TWO WAYS TO SPARK CURIOSITY IN YOUR HOME

CURIOSITY IN THE STUDIO

When I reflect on my time in the studio creating these paintings, the phrase - "Where there is art, there is curiosity" comes to mind. Curiosity is the backbone of why I love creating something from nothing. I stay curious about the materials I’m working with and how they interact with one another. How does limestone powder react when I pour coffee over top? What imprint will coffee grounds give this layer? The beginning of each painting is a mystery. Each layer is an invitation to pause, explore, and interpret the hidden nuances.

SOMETHING FUN TO TRY

Keep an eye out for treasures at your local antique or thrift store that resonate with the artwork you have at home. I stumbled upon this antique crock, a replica of a painting I had finished earlier (BEFORE I discovered the crock!!). The resemblance is mind-blowing. It's not the first time this has happened. Join the fun and see what connections you can spot during your next thrifting adventure!
